Two are better than one; because they have
a good reward for their labour.
Ecclesiastes 4:9

What It's NOT

Coaching

The coaching process primarily focuses on the present and future versus the past. Coaching is not intended as a replacement for counseling, therapy, psychiatric interventions, treatment for mental illness, recovery from past abuse, professional medical advice, financial assistance, legal counsel, or other professional services.

What It Is

According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

A Partnership

Coaching is designed to help facilitate the achievement of Your personal and/or professional goals. These may include (but are not limited to) personal foundation, career development, relationship enhancement, spiritual growth, healthy lifestyle management, life balance, decision-making, and achieving short-term or long-term goals.
Coaching may involve brainstorming, clarification of values, the completion of written assignments and/or assessments, education, well-vision development, goal setting, identifying plans of action, accountability, making requests, agreements to change behavior, examining lifestyle changes, and questioning.

An Ongoing Process

Coaching is an ongoing relationship that may take several sessions, although either party can terminate the relationship at any time. Lasting lifestyle change is not a quick fix – its a – one action step – at a time process.

Honesty and Transparency are Essential

Honesty and transparency are an essential part of the coaching relationship. In order for coaching to be most effective, it is imperative that both parties are honest and straightforward in their communication.
